I know i will be deployed eventually so that is another reason why i want to stick with a sand boa. They are small so they aren't as intimidating as say a red tail plus you kind of have to be a special kind of herper to screw up husbandry as simple as theirs is.

thanks so far
keep em coming

Well just to let you know I did six years in the air force as an enlisted member. Just to let you know for about the first year and half your not going to have a lot of free time. That includes volunteering at a humane society. But once you get through that you'll be alright. While you are in the dorms, you are very restricted on what you can have as a pet. From where I was stationed we were only allowed to have a fish tank that is under 30 gallons. I asked about getting a snake since they are in the same size tank but I was denied. Mainly cause the people that you will have to ask are uninformed about snakes. So your best bet is to wait till you get your own apartment. And that you will need to find someone to take care of the snake. I deployed once and did place my snake with a friend that had so called "snake pets" before. When I came back, after 4 months mind you, the tank was a disaster. He did not clean it once. So needless to say he never watched one of my snakes again. So be sure that whoever is taking care of your snake will take care of it.

If you have any other questions just let me know, I'm more than happy to help you out.
