Thanks! It really wasn't all that hard to notice. I am sure anyone would have done the same as me, even teenagers.

Unfortunately, I have to disagree with this. Pythontricker was told by at least a few people that it did not sound like the RI had totally cleared up and he needed to get the snake back to the vet right away. That was approximately 2 weeks before the snake went back to the vet.

Now, that may still be better than the average 14 year old. Certainly it is better than some teenagers who have posted things vaguely along the lines of "but I can't take my snake to the vet cuz then I won't be able to buy my favorite singer's new album when it comes out next week". But I don't think it qualifies as upholding extreme responsibility.

I am glad to hear that the snake did get back to the vet eventually and that it should be getting better.

Dr. Del - I believe it is a common practice to give an animal (or person for that matter) a "best guess" antibiotic while waiting for the culture to come back. I know at least this isn't the first time I've heard of it being done.

hey easy on the age stuff bro i always get crap because im a teenager when im more responsible than most of the adult i know. My snakes ALWAYS come first because if they get sick or hurt its more likely than not its MY fault not theirs and all i have is a part time job. All im saying is it depends on the person not the age there are alot of adults much worse than me.

Look bud, I did wait a couple of weeks, you know why, because, one, I had to raise the $200 for the vet bill, I had finals that were over 150 questions long and 35% of my grade that I had to study for. Family and school, comes before anything. My snake was sick, I did my best, but I did get to the vet on time, my veterinarian said that I couldn't have come at a better time. You want to know why? Ok, She had only gotten a little bit more sick in the time frame that she was off antibiotics, thus forth her producing enough flem and mucous, for the vet to successfully gain from the culture. If it where any earlier, It would not be enough of a sample for him to test. She is a small snake so me and my father anticipated it would be best if we waited a little bit longer than conventional. My dad has two degrees in medicine. He is an optometrist and deals with all kinds of medicine. INCLUDING antibiotics. And yes, she is on antibiotics right now and I am still waiting on the culture results.

Ageism works in both directions and I really don't even think it is a worthwhile discussion unless one is arguing against such biases.

    Hi,

A bit late now I suppose but there was an oportunity to get a clear sample for culture from the spider before you began giving it anti-biotics I think - I could be way off base but I seem to recall someone saying thats the best time to take one.

Did you get the culture results back yet that you mentioned waiting for on the 12th?

Has your vet suggested trying different anti-biotics as the baytrill seems to be having trouble wiping it out or does he still feel it will work?
