Re: I was just let go!

I wish you the best. Sometimes getting terminated is just the nudge you need though to better yourself. My husband lost his job at Riefler Concrete when they went belly-up. Yesterday, years later, he gets a letter stating that he is not getting the back vacation pay that he was owed, and severence, which was about $6k that he had been waiting for, because the slimeball company went bankrupt.
But when he was fired there, he started his home renovation business. It was a lotmore profitable than that place ever was!
I a actually being shuffled to another department at my job, because our department is being completely eliminated. I know this is not as bad, but it will be all-new people and data to process. I feel joy though in not having been terminated that I know of at least..

I was there over 4 years. No pension (not vested since it takes 5 years), only 4 weeks severance (one week for each year), one month of medical coverage and I lost my vacation and sick time (they don't pay it out).

Now it looks like I am screwed. The ecnomomy sucks! There are no jobs out there!

I just bought a mojave! Now It looks like she will be listed for sale along with several other animals to raise cash. This just bites!

I am so upset right now. I can't believe this happened. No warning whatsoever! Just came up to me and said "your position is being eliminated, pack up and go home".

This is one of the WORST days ever!
Steve that sucks .I wonder if it had anything to do with that idiot women that raised the ruckus about your snake pics

    So much for the severance.
I just got mailed my last check. No severance. I was given the impression I was getting severance and the agreement I had to sign when I left said that BUT it was a general agreement and said "may recieve up to". I didn't catch that and well, now I'm screwed.

Not sure where you live but that doesn't sound right! It's not too late to go back to HR and dispute what they paid you. You may not win but you very well may. You'd be surprised what a company will do just to keep you quiet. I work for a large aerospace company and I'm amazed at what they will do just to keep the labor board and/or lawyers away.

Also, check with your state labor laws and see if "use it or lose it" applies for your sick and vacation. I know in California it does not . . . If you accrued it you get paid for it regardless of the separation terms.

I wish you the best of luck and regardless of how awful you feel right now . . . it will get better.

Steve thats bullcrap .I would contact the labor board and see how they react to this crap, hell if at least talk to a attorney and make sure you mention the static you took from that old bat about you sharing those pics.I still bet this letting you go has something to do with that old bat
