Kids are impressionable. They're going to see that and think it's "heroic" or "cool". And since most parents are afraid of snakes, who's to tell them otherwise?

It's not the movie scene I'm concerned about. It's the "brilliant ideas" it's going to inspire in the minds of young impressionables.
I think you've mistaken stupid for impressionable. There is a big difference between the two.

I also think they called the snake in the movie a ratsnake and as far as I could tell, it was a rubber snake, not a live one.

It's just a movie.
