yeah that's exactly what I do. In fact, I usually turn it off during the day now that it's warmed up

I use a compact humidifier which requires filling every other day in the summer and it keeps my humidity 58-64 %.
Yeah i bought it from the pet store, its an all natural mist, thats helps with humidity. It definitely helps, but i'm gonna combo that with a moist towel like you said. Thanks for clearing that up, i dont know why i was thinking paper towels lol

    Re: heating tank at night

my IR bulb definitely drops my humidity, but I have a plexiglass lid (as well as screen top) with a round hole for the lamp, and I made a semi-seal of aluminum foil and aluminum tape that extends the edge of my clamp lamp to the plexi. I've checked, and it really doesn't get very hot, and the bulb is still far enough away that she can't burn her nose/tongue on it. (few inches)
That's done a good job of keeping my humidity where I want it

Soo i soaked a towel in water, rung it out a bit, and set it in the middle on the top of my screen with a lamp on each side. My humidity is now at a stable 65%. good2go

Great! Don't soak it so much that it's dripping or anything and if your humidity keeps climbing, wring it out a little more.

A quick tip - most sprays and "aids" sold at the pet store (I think all of them really) are a HUGE waste of money. Repti-shed aids are basically mineral oil - and are not needed. Read the ingredients on your tropical mist - and I bet the first thing listed is water

Yeah, anything other than using water to mist is just silly.

If I had to use any type of "bulb" for heat it would be a ceramic one. They are less expensive to operate and last much longer than conventional heat lamps. I have used them for many years on my tortoises and uromastyx.

    Re: heating tank at night

Aloe Vera, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B3, Emollient, Water <--lol

Aloe Vera- Basically a mild moisturizer and a healing and for any minor cuts, bruises, etc.

Vitamin B1- Basically for neural function and carbohydrate metabolism.

    Emollient- Softens and soothes skin.

Water- Well, its just water lol

I know this seems like a waste n' all but i have the extra money plus these ingredients have some affect to an extent. I totally agree with everyones method of keeping humidity n' such, but i got this not just to help aid in adding a lil bit of humidity, but to also help my ball out a lil bit.
