Can my BP catch my cold?
Hey Everyone!!!
Since ya'll are always soooo helpful - thought I'd throw another question at ya....
I have been sick (a nasty cold that won't go away) for almost 2 weeks. I'm not handling my BP's because of it. I figured it was just safer since I'm not sure if they can catch it. So my question is can they catch human illnesses (Colds, flu, etc.)?????
As always thanks in advance for your help!

As far as I know, the virus strains that can give us cold, flu, etc, are not transmittable to reptiles, let alone many mammals. I am not very sure about this, so you may want to wait for some more posts.

No you shouldn't worry about transmitting your cold to your snake. Although I would advise against handling your snake when you are not completely clear headed. People have fallen asleep, forgotten to close the enclosure correctly, and other various mistakes they would not have made if they were not ill.
I'd say get your butt in bed, and drink lots of fluids. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks... That's kinda what I was thinking, but I'm new with the snake thing and wasn't sure. I'll wait to hear from more people.
Thanks again for your input!

Thanks!!! I'll try to do that if I can peel myself away from this website! That and constantly staring in the snake enclosures.

Well I'm pretty sure this site as antiviral properties, so you're covered there.

I can speak for this! Last night before I went to bed I got out the temp gun and some quick temp checks and I forgot to strap down the tank's lid!
Luckily for me it was also feeding day and she had nothing on her mind except hiding and enjoying a full belly of mouse!
