help with breeding bp

When after they mate do you notice the female ovulate or swell up. how long after exactly and how long does it last because my 3 female mojaves have been being bread by my male mojave and i dont want them to lay before i get the incubator ready. I know they go through a pre lay shed, and 2 of my females are shedding now and im not sure if its a prelay or just a regular shed. how can i tell if they are pregnant, and please only people with experience answer this, i dont wanna mess up with this im trying to produce lucy's and i dont want to loose any eggs.... thank you very much

Some people stick a little toe in the ocean that is ball pythons, while others dive in head-first. The very few people that know about my collection and # of females I am breeding this season would say I chose the later route. The things that you don't know -- that you don't know -- are the things that can bite you during your first year breeding. You can read about it, be told about it, do a search about it, and look at pictures. But, SEEING IT first hand is making the difference for me during my first season.

I still feel like a "total newbie"-- and I have my first clutch hatched, 6 cooking, and 30 girls that have ovulated. Like a notable breeder told me last spring when I was CLUELESS and freaked-out about the breeding process, "Bill, it's not that hard if you get down the basics. However, there are a lot of little ways you can make a BIG mistake". So true!!!

You learn by doing in many cases. Everybody was new to breeding at one time. If one waits until they have EVERYTHING covered/understood -- they would likely never breed. JUMP ON IN. THE WATER IS FINE...he says with that uncertain grin on his face!???!!

LOL this is funny. Please fellas to much drama haha thanks for those who backed me up. But i feel that those people that have the time to read posts then make fun of them really have no life and usually no education. ha anyways i learned how to palpate today thanks youtube.com lol And in my bigest female i felt 8 golfball sized lumps could be more or less. but im very happy to have learned it too bad i didnt feel anything in my other females, maybe they are still developing. and im sorry to have offended those other people when i said "please only those with experience reply" i never meant to piss you off, but i just rather get professional help with facts and hands on experience, then average joes (like me) that heard something somewhere or read something off the internet. lol so dont take it the wrong way ok well bye

What I wonder is how in the heck this species ever propagated without assistance in the wild. With as much technical information on breeding available, how do these cold-blooded creatures, with such a primitive nervous system able to procreate.

In the wild there are hundreds of thousands breeding every year. so out of those your bound to get some offspring.

I was just trying to poke fun at our primitive attempt to reproduce normal environments with our current technologies that would improve our ball python breeding.
