    Question about ifrared thermometeer

Okay so I have about 3 questions I'd like to have answered. I am going to be buying one soon so I'd like to know 1. Does it go through glass. 2. Does anybody reccommend the 12:1 over the 1:1 or is 1:1 enough. 3. Can anybody reccoommend the most in-expensive place to buy them, and please don't say reptile basics because as much as everbody likes that place for regular things they are a bit of a rip. Thanks.

    1. No it will not accurately go through glass. You will mostly be reading the temp of the glass with reflections of heat waves from who knows where interfering.

    2. Yes 12:1 is much better than 1:1 this is the distance away from surface you can be compared to surface area an average will be displayed for the temp. 12:1 means you can be 12 inches away and read a spot that is approximately 1 inch square. 1:1 means if you are 12 inches away you will be taking the average of a 12 inch square area.

    1. Not through the glass. Surface temps are great though.

    2. Unless you plan on sniping, 1:1 to 12:1 isn't a big issue as I usually do it from a pretty close range.
