Question Can I give my jungle carpet python the rejects our ball python won't eat?

Don't yell at me. Just a simple question.

We've had our ball python since the end of August 2007. She had a URI in late fall, for which she was treated and fully recoved by early January. She has no signs of illness, unless you consider being a picky eater one. She refuses f/t these days, but will eat live, only at night when all is dark and quiet and she's in her tank.

Our Jungle Carpet Python is an eating machine and has never refused ANYTHING we've attempted to feed him. He even ate a small to medium sized rat and then proceeded to shed! If I'd known he was that close to shedding, I would have waited to feed him.

The question is, if we give our ball python something to eat and she refuses (if it was live - we would give to our jcp while still alive, if f/t shortly after the bp refused it), can we give it to our jcp? Has she been sufficiently quarantined to do that - 7 months in the house, almost 3 months since URI cleared? It would be nice not to waste a life, and I can't kill a rodent myself to freeze it for later. The JCP is a mouse/rat garbage disposal. He snatches everything w/in 3 to 5 seconds!

Does anyone else have any kind of system of giving refused meals to the "next heir"?

I do it all the time.

Granted, not from quarantine to the general colony, and not from Sick snake to healthy snake, but yes.

Yea, I do it too. Strangely enough it is my carpet that is usually the garbage disposal too, he has hands down the BEST feeding response of any of my snakes. Maybe it's a carpet trait?

I would be a bit more careful if it was from a quarantine to a healthy, but if you're sure she's totally over it than I don't see a problem with it.

I figured it was done. Funny about carpets. Good to have a garbage disposal around.

But does it sound OK in our case? The ball python seems totally healthy to me. Does the time period seem long enough?

I wouldn't do it from a quarantine to a general population snake.

i don't have a carpet... but my boa is my rat disposal. i usually thaw out 2 mice for my micer BP and if he decided not to eat or he is on the 1 mouse diet, they go to the boa.

beats having to either re-freeze the mouse or have to throw it out.

Its perfectly fine to give it to your other snake .I had a albino burmese AKA garbage disposal ,if someone was not hungry she was
