super pastell question
Quick question.
Is there any trait or way to determine if a Pastel is a super pastel before breeding her? I assume no, but I could be wrong...
I looked on Nerds site... obviously some look different with the super light shading.. and the super light head... but there are a few in the Super Pastel section that look pretty much like normal pastells.

Re: super pastell question
It is easily distingishable from regular pastels. If someone can post a Super next to a Normal pastel, I think you will understand better.

agreed. the super has a way busier pattern, lighter coloring, and an ultra faded, purple head.

I remember seeing a great picture from Celia at EbN with a nice Pastel right beside a really nice Super Pastel. Hopefully either she or Sean, who are both members here, will see this thread and dig that pic out. I tried to find it again this morning but gawd knows where I put that link. My favorites list is a mess!

Re: super pastell question
Unfortunately there's not a 100% definite visual trait to determine if it is a super or not, although most of the time it is pretty obvious.
I've seem some ugly supers that looked like regular pastels and some outstanding regulars that look like supers, but that's more the exception than the rule. Once again, it comes down to trusting the breeder.

Pastels can be extremely variable and there are some cases where it can be difficult to tell the difference between a really nice pastel and a not so great super pastel. The best time to tell is right after hatching where the supers are quite a bit lighter, especially on the head. But as an adult, it may be that the only way you can tell with certainty is to breed it and see if you get 100% pastels or some normals as well. If you get any normal babies, then the parent is obviously not a super pastel.

Re: super pastell question
Until you breed it, you will not know.
This is a normal pastel but in person she puts some supers to shame.
