Re: a few cross predictions
At first I thought the OP posted those particular pairings based on what he owned. But his .sig says only one normal.
Anyway, it is important when trying to figure out genetics, to understand it does not matter with any one particular pairing, which is the male and which is the female. So with the first example given, pastel female x spider male, the results would be exactly the same for pastel male x spider female.
When choosing what to buy for your breeding project, it does make a big difference what is male & what is female. A male can breed several different females each year and therefore produce lots of clutches each year. But a female can only produce 1 clutch per year, and some people think that breeding them every year is too stressful and only breed the females on alternate years or maybe 2 out of 3 years.

Is your advice for the morphs like spiders/mojaves to get the male special BPs and normal females to breed?
Also, axanthic is a het trait? As in axanthic x normal=het for axanthic normals, and if you wanted to produce axanthics you'd need either two hets, or an axanthic x het axanthic?

Well, first I better make it clear that I'm not experienced with this. But it is sort of a combination of common sense and math and understanding the genetics. It depends on what your goals are. If you want to produce as many valuable morphs as possible with the least investment, then yes, buy male morphs (or hets) and normal females. If you have more money to spend or want results faster, buy both male & female morphs. If you just want a bumblebee as a pet, and aren't interested in other offspring, you might want to just buy a bumblebee and forget breeding.

You are close. The correct term is to call it a recessive trait, but you are correct that those are the traits that produce hets. And, of course you can also get axanthics with axanthic x axanthic.

Recessive....thanks KC...I'm a criminology major, I havent done genetics or anything since quite a few years ago in high school...My three favorite morphs are the axanthic, spider and mojave, I was thinking bout picking up a few one by one, as much as money permits really...Breeding would be nice but I'm in no rush to group them up and make $$ off it or anything...I'm not really a huge fan of the enormous snakes, just due to the husbandry needs or anything, nothing bigger than my JCP at least..
