Re: Where can I probe my tank?

    Hi,

Well I am not really the person to ask but since no one else has seen it yet I'll give it my uninformed opinion.

It should be doable as long as there is sufficient clearance to stop the probe being pressed against the glass creating a cracking risk.

Kinda thing - does that make sense? I fixed mine down with aluminium tape to stop it lifting with the heat.

You will probably find you will have to adjust the t/stat a fair bit till you figure out the internal temps of the hides.

I know I have my t/stat probe taped to my flexwatt but it is on an overhang at the back of my tubs not directly underneath.

The basic thing is once you have adjusted the t/stat to keep the temps inside ok then if it changes you really need to try and find out what changed and why.

How have you insulated the tank? How are the roomm temps?

The problem is you really don't want to be fiddling with these kind of things with a tank containing an animal if you can avoid it.

    **edit**

Just noticed another point - it is quite normal for the t/stat to have to be set at a different temp if the probe is in a different location to the thermometer probe. As long as the temps are stable inside the tank and at the right range then the setting on the t/stat is really irrelevant.

    **end edit**
