Re: Snakes are takeing over the USA
I LOVE the comments below the article! Here is one of my favorites: "Another situation to worry about is, can these Burmese pythons mate with local snakes? Such snakes like the Black snake, etc? If so, there will be a whole new species or sub species of snakes. Last thing we need!"
"If I were stranded on a desert island and could only have one book, record and person...I'd probably die of exposure."

Jebus...
Even with this gradual temperature change, these snakes won't be able to inhabit the many parts of the USA they're claiming. It would take decades, if not, a couple centuries for the climate to change enough, and make it habitable for them. They're mainly looking at temperature, vs other factors. Humidity, fresh water availability, prey availability....they all play a vital role in the animals ability to survive, and thrive. Southern Florida mimics the Burmese Pythons natural habitat so well, that it allows the animal to thrive, where as the other area's they list simply do not. Even with temperature change, they don't. If the humidity is not up to par, it does severe respiratory damage to the animals, as well as external damage. Severe respiratory infections would set in. Skin, and shed problems would occur. There's a myriad of problems, long term, that would happen to the species.
Looks like another media/public scare deal, along with ignorant, uneducated statements and "fact"....

I always love the way these things report that the snakes can be 20 feet long and weigh over 250 lbs. Thats like saying that every human on earth could eventually be the size of Andre the giant.

I like how it says that they're very adaptable to new environments....
Yeah, if there's one thing pythons are, it's totally adaptable to climates other than the pretty darn specific temp/humidity level we have to keep them at....

Oh good grief, here's another article from Heathers neck of the woods.... Did all of these people sleep through their high school biology classes? This one is even worse then the others, though it is kind of funny.
