They took rats!
Since we want to breed rats for feeders we decided to see if the snakes could take rat fuzzies. All feeders ranged from 27-40g and all but our smallest ball python took them. (she got a mouse). Feeding response was excellent.
So does anyone have a breakdown of the nutritional value of mice and rats. Like % fat and % protein and stuff like that? I would like to see how they differ and how they are alike.

Re: They took rats!
Thanks for the link. Looks like rats have more protein, less ash, but more fat. They seem better overall though. I think I'll stick with rats. Even buying them the size rat they need right now is only 5c more expensive than adult mice they were eating.

It says Adult or >50g, not that adults are 50 grams. But yes your correct, I dont consider them adults until around 300 grams a 5 months of age.

Wish my pastel would take rats... I'll try again to convert him next litter. And personally I like rats because of one meal per feeding.

the nutrient composition could just be pretty much the same after they reach 50g
