Re: my take on the rack setup
Hehe well when i said "natural environment" i really didnt mean the actual natural environment lol. more like a fake environment but appealing to the human eye a bit much like the 1st pic in this post

sorry...i'm a newbie still with snakes hehe, getting one on Sat and currently have a 70g tank as well, its all set up and working on it to keep up humidity, heat isn't a prob yet. i hear plastic works wonder for humidity, i have thought of getting a small waterfall or humidifier to add to tank as well
its on the outside and its the emergency blanket that you find in emergency road side kits to keep you warm in case of a break down

*cough*boa*cough* Wow, it's just so...big!!
i dont know what i said that made you think that izzy is no longer in her cage but im sorry if i misled you there, but she is still in her cage i have changed the layout of her tank from what you see in the pic , and no im not considering any other breeds right now just other bp morphs (mojave, yellowbelly, lesser, butter just the wife says no right now but i plan on winning this argument i mean 8 ball has payment plans right just pay him behind her back and when my new bp arrives tell her i won a contest or something details are not worked out yet )

I'm not sure what your motivations are for wanting to use such a large setup...IMO a large cage with a bunch of fake plants and half-logs is a very very far cry from a "natural" environment. If you REALLY wanted to set up a natural ball python habitat, you'd be creating a huge savannah grassland type area with deep, natural burrows. This would be impractical for the average keeper and something better suited for a zoo.
I have been keeping snakes for a while but not so long as to forget about what it was like when I first got started...I also started wanting a "natural" setup thinking it would be better. The practical experience I've gained since then has taught me otherwise.
wow... your being real nice

He is only speaking the truth. A natural cage for a BP would resemble a termite mound in Africa. In fact, I daresay that my "plain" tubs, with 2 hide spots and a water dish, more closely mimic a termite mound, than a naturalistic terrarium that depicts a deciduous or tropical forest!
Whatever works though. Different strokes for different folks. But I would not want to see a snake stressed-out or suffering for human tank aesthetics.
