New Paper vs Other Substrate
Hey guys,
I've been using repti-bark on my snakes for over a year now and I like it. The only thing is that my collection is growing and a large bag doesn't last as long as it did before, so I was considering switching a least my BP over to newspaper. At first when I heard that people used newspaper I thought it was shredded, but then I read some more threads and found that people just use the sheets. What do you personally prefer? Shredded newspaper? Regular newspaper? Or what else? I have a bit of a problem keeping my humidity up, but I think that's because I use a ceramic heating bulb. The only problem is that I can't keep the ambient temp high enough without it. Any suggestions?

I was looking at some Reptile show pictures and I noticed that some of them use something completely different. Does anybody have any idea what they use and what the benefits are, if any? I've also seen vermiculite for sale at reptile supplies. Is this used for snakes or other reptiles? I don't plan on switching from what I'm using, but I'm curious.

I like whole sheets of newspaper. I use it for my BP, and my dad has used it for his iguanas for probably 10 years. It makes for a very easy cleanup, and if you subscribe to the paper, it's essentially free.
