glass cleaning
What if anything is safe to use to clean the inside glass on a tank? I used a zoo-med product to disinfect (I'll be ordering the better as soon as I can afford it) and the glass is so nasty! It's full of streaks, foggy looking, etc. I don't want to use anything like glass cleaner or anything else until I get an ok from you guys.

Re: glass cleaning
Anytime I decided to clean the glass, I would take the whole tank down and wash with soap and warm water, then put it back together with fresh substrate.
Other than that, I've only used plain water to wipe off and then dry with a paper towel.

Thanks! I'll give that a try.
I am wondering if it's the disinfectant that is causing the problem. If so, I guess I'll have to deal with it until I can get something else. Maybe I'll try a weak bleach solution instead.

If you use the bleach, make sure and rinse really well. For cleaning any of my tubs/tanks I use chlorhexidine/Novalsan. Mixed with distilled water, a solution will keep for 4-6 weeks.

I cleaned the tank with just a capful or two of bleach and several gallons of water and then rinsed for probably about 10 - 15 minutes. Good enough? I couldn't smell any bleach when I was done.

Re: glass cleaning
Vinegar is a good all around cleaner and has disinfectant properties as well. It is safe to use in many situations where other cleaners are not. When I used to keep aquariums, it was recommended as a glass cleaner (for the outside) because it didn't have ammonia in it, which most commercial glass cleaners do, and which is highly toxic to fish. It is not hard to get a streak free clean on glass when using vinegar.
I have not seen it recommended much (I think just one time?) on reptile forums. Does anyone know for sure if it is safe to use around our snakes?

I'll keep that in mind next time.
I did manage to get most of the streaks off by using the bleach/water solution and drying it with newspaper. The steaks were not all that important. The bp's welfare was what really mattered.

I know there is still a lot of stuff that I need and soon, I'll have it. It's just a matter of money and time.
