Saturday was a good day for me. First I woke up and found a pair of pastel balls locked up, I really can't wait to hatch out a super, and then later before I went to bed I found my chondros locked up. This is my first attempt at breeding GTPs so I am keeping my fingers crossed. I have had good success breeding ball pythons and coastal carpet pythons, I just hope that carries over with the GTPs as they have always been the holy grail of snakes for me.

The male is a young high yellow and the female is a huge Biak type that I have had for about 5 years now.


This is a shot I took this morning of their second observed breeding. This female has a lot of black pigment on her giving her a rather unique apperance.

That is a beautiful pair of chondros! I think they really compliment each other. I hope you get a large, healthy clutch that goes full term!

I my personal experiance with a small group of 2.2 adults and dozens of hatchlings/yearlings over the years they have a fairly typical python temperment. Some can be nippy for the first few months but all of mine outgrew that phase fairly quickly. My adults all had a strong feeding response, but once they felt the snake hook under them you could almost see them relax and sort of snap out of hunting mode. Once out of the cage mine were active but very easy to handle and they didn't seem to get spooked very easily. Like all snakes, there are individual variation on temperment but on the whole I highly recommend coastal carpets, especially if you want a BIG python without the hassels of keeping the giants.

I kept my adult females in 4ft Neodesha cages and my males in 3 footers. Older bigger males would need larger cages but do to family issues I had to sell my entire collection before my males reached that size.
