    Ultratherm Heaters

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this brand of UTH or know anyone that has used them?

so you use them with tubs right? you place them underneath? i just installed one and i have several of the zoo med UTH and this one does not feel very warm. I know it says its infra red but i have never used this kind of heating unit and was a little concerned. i placed it on the side of the enclosure i am using because my substrate is sort of thick.

    Yes I do.

Utratherm UTH do not get as warm as Zoo-med if left un-controlled by a thermostat however they still require a thermostat as the temps can still reach 105/110 if not controlled.

If you want to achieve proper temps you will need to place it underneath your enclosure (just take some substrate out), if placed on the side the UTH will not be efficient.

Are you saying that you are to place this *inside* the tub?? What do you do with the wires????

i think she meant just to put it underneath because i had slapped mine on the side and that was not going to get the heat i needed on the side like that.

    Re: Ultratherm Heaters

Well I have had this thing cooking for about a day now and it is sweet. Anyone looking for a UTH and wants to get away from those Zoo Med and Zilla ones for there tanks, these are the ones to use. low wattage and they are plenty hot. Super thin too, more like using FlexWatt tape. I got mine from the Bean Farm. Super nice people.
