What's the temputure in your house? How are you heating your house?
The towel should not have been moved, and I would move it back.
Plus, why do you have a towel in the cage? What kind of cages? Can you wrap up the cage itself? Do you have a human hot water bottle?

Take the towel out. It's possible if there was anything, she might have it, but if she doesn't have it yet, then you could prevent it by removing the towel.
You could take a plastic bottle, fill it with hot water, wrap it into a pillowcase and tie it shut, so that the snake can't touch the actual bottle. Put that into the tank, and cover the top with a blanket or towel and see if that warms it some. You might have to replace the bottle once or twice during the night.
How cold is it in the house?
Why did your mom put a towel in the tank?

It's just a precaution. Did you find a way to put warm into the cage?

The best thing you could have done, Was be ready for something like this. Before you got any snakes! This is how things get f'd up in peoples collections.

    Re: Help!

Did you think about using the bottle of hot water in a pillow case? Or are you really not that worried, and just wanted to act dramatic? A snake can't heat up newspapers or towels. They need a heat source.
