This bothers me. The vet believes that BP's (like in 'particular') are sensitive to the effects of provent a mite?

Well, this is true when used improperly. (and in high doses) But the directions for provent a mite are to use it on the bedding and enclosure. Not on the BP. It's also one of the most researched and experimented sprays out there. Perhaps she should call the manufacturer to confirm her beliefs. She may learn a thing or two.

I'm thinking she wasn't familiar with the PAM brand so she just assumed that it might have some dangerous chemicals. She was 100% about using bleach.

I wish I could remember the name of the chemical she mentioned. According to her, only certain snakes/other herps are sensitive to them while others are not.

Mineral oil is GREAT for taking off the top surface of the scales off! (doensn't hurt them but they do start shedding the top layer of dry skin off, but not like a regular shed). That's the only point I disagree with your vet on, the Provent-A-Mite is tried and tested in many keeper's collections.

You have done a really nice job with your setup. I have a suggestion for you that really helped give my tank a natural look. You may have already seen them. Check out this background.

I love it in mine. I have a 30 gallon tank so i had to buy two of the 18x24" and had to make some modifications. The only problem I have had with it is that my BP will get behind it. I took some styrofoam pipe insulation tubing and ran it across the top to prevent him from getting behind it. Then I took some fake vines to run across that to make it blend in. Just something you might want to look into. I use it in both my ball python and leopard gecko tanks.

Yeah, I've read all about PAM and would probably use it if I needed it. Thank goodness I don't... though I'll be keeping an eye on my boy just to make sure.

These are both older picks. I replaced the vines behind the two caves with fake ferns. This is a before and after. I was using white poster board for the background then switched to the rock background. It will show how big of a difference the rock background makes. I think it makes it look alot more natural.
