In no way am I a Mike Vick supporter but I am surprised he got much more time than the co defendants in this case. I'll tell you this I'd bet he's not worried about the time in jail, the money he lost is alot more than just 140 million like most are saying.

In the hood the Michael Vick situation is commonly viewed as the railroading of an innocent man.The argument is that dog fighting as a sport is the equivalent of deer hunting for other segments of society.The idea of feeling compassion for animals is seen as madness (because after all they are just animals)and it is believed that certain people just couldnt stand to see Mr Vick doing so well for himself and felt compelled to bring him down. I am in no way supporting this position but I am attempting to explain the way that Mr Vicks supporters see the situation.

I have noticed that many dogfighting rings are gang-related. Gangs that perpetuate violence. Gangsters will kill an innocent human without a thought because their skin is a different color, and then get bonus points for doing so. So I guess that their value on a dog's life is less than dirt, if they value human life as dirt..
It is not a racial thing either.. there are gangs of all races. I myself ceme from Italian descent. My forebearers were probably machine-gun-toting hoodlums. But is it right? No.

Wow...Nice little heated thread...I'll go out on a limb here and stick my no good redneck nose in it...Vick will be back - Not as a QB - Either a RB or reciever - Like him or not - The boy can play ball...He got caught - He's doing time - What else you want? Fact of the matter is - Pitbulls - True game bred Pitbulls - Not your lap dog or back yard bred dogs - True Pits are bred to fight - That's right - fight...I own Pitbulls (Before y'all lench me - No I don't fight them) and have owned numerous Pits over the last 20 years...True game bred Pits get off fighting - They like it...Game bred lines of Pits go back hundreds and hundreds of years...IMO - The hate for Vick comes from the way he killed the bad performings dogs - Yep - It's disgusting what he did but he's in prison - He's lost the life he had - His endorsments - His house - His money - What else you want - His life? I'm not sorry for Vick - He got what he deserved but come on man - $140 million gone down the drain - 23 months in prison - Who really nows if he'll ever play again?
