A few BRB questions
Hi,
I am looking into getting a few BRB's probably around next August or September. I've kept balls before and I've been reading about them so I feel confident that I can handle the husbandry requirements. However, I do have a few questions. How do BRBs handle rack life? One place said that they may need special lighting (but this was only one location). If I can house them in a rack, how long will a 32 qt tub last? Is it like balls where the males can always stay in a 32 qt, and females will eventually need a 41? I know that BRBs average slightly larger than balls, so I was wondering if the 32 qt size would be large enough. Also, in the future I would like to breed them (something about live birth in a snake just fascinates me). Should I get 1 male for every female? Or can 1 male handle several girls?
Also, I think that the Peruivian (sp?) Rainbow Boas are also beautiful, but I can't find nearly as much information about them. Are they just not preferred to the BRBs?
Thanks in advance!

Re: A few BRB questions
I want a Brb reallllllly bad. I can't remember who it was that I chatted with here, but he knew his stuff. (gncz?) Hopefully he can chime in. I've decided that it wasnt the right time for me to have one, but Brian Sharp had an anethrystic (maybe, I cant remember now) one at Tinley and OMG! It was tough to walk away from that bugger. Just amazing animals.
Here is a poor picture of him

They do fine in racks as long as their requirements are met.

I have never heard of special lighting for BRBs. They are nocturnal. A 32 qt. tub will last 9-10 months or so dependant on the growth rate. 32 qt tubs are too small for any adult BRB in my opinion, but I am sure you could cram a small male into one of you want to.

One male can go with more than one female. Depends more on what you want to do then the snakes.

Just not as common.....ha ha....I think it is more about demand. More people like Brazilians...they are the prettiest

Re: A few BRB questions
Go with what you want most, is my way of thinking - BRB or PRB.
Great pictures, cold blooded!!!!
