I have a poodle in foster care with me right now who was a biter like that, and he quickly learned that's not a successful technique anymore. There's no reason to let them get away with it. It's certainly not "cute" when you can't handle them safely.

i used to work in a shelter, people would always turn in dogs like that! they all can't be the perfect pet....i could see when kids were involved, but if it was just me i wouldn't mind having a crazy dog, i have days when i don't want to be touched!

    Re: The devil himself...

They're only like that because people let them get away with it. I can understand having an off day, but there's no excuse to attack your family, especially every day! That's how they wind up in the shelter...and people don't seem to acknowledge their own responsbility in creating the behavior. It's really frustrating.

This poodle came in for euthanasia...I'm the only reason he's not in the freezer now. He's turned into a very sweet little dog, who sleeps on my pillow and wakes me up with kisses, but it took quite a while to teach him that his bullying tactics were not permissable, and because he was allowed to use them for so long, he wound up homeless and on death row. People just don't take it seriously enough.

Your serious? The post wasn't made to make my little man out to really be the devil - It was a half hearted joke...To be honest - I put up with it because that's the way he is - An before you start - I didn't make him like that so come up with something else...He's actually a cool little dog - He just has his moments...The vet brushes his teeth - Gives him his shots - Clips his nails - Never had ear infections? I guess if I can put up with a little craziness from him I can put up with a 80 pounds of badass sleeping in my bed everyday...Not to worry - He'll never go to the pound to be put down - He'll always have a place with me...
