    What to do when gone??

    Hey,
I just got a ball python about a week ago. Everything is going good. She's alreadying eating and seems pretty comfortable. The problem is that I'm going home for Thanksgiving and dont know what to do about my snake. I'm using a heat lamp for heating and I wont be able to turn it on or off for about three days. What I was thinking of doing was leaving her by a window so she maintains the same light cycle. I'm not really worried about the temp because so also has a UTH but, I'm more worried about messing up her biological clock. What should I do?

Get you a thermostat and a timer for the lights.

Thats what I use to do when I was using a Viv.

Yeah, run down to wal-mart and pick up a timer. . .they're like $5. (I got mine on sale for $1.25 so i picked up like 10 of em, lol)

Also, you might ask a friend who lives in town or near by if they could stop in and check the temps just to make sure all is OK! Also make sure you have the cage locked up or something heavy on top or something! Wouldnt want a loose snake around the house while ur gone. . .cat might go missing! (YIKES!)

I went to home depot and actually got a whole new light switch and the timer is all digital built into the light switch for the room. Comes on at 7am and shuts off at 7pm. Only around $25, and you can set the timer anyway you want, weekdays, weekends, everyday, built in daylight savings, its great.

I ended up going to Wal-Mart and found a simple timer for about $5. It would be cool if I could afford a light with a built in timer but being a college student I'm alittle tight on money. I also made sure that the lid wasnt going to fall off. I figured my big accounting book should do the trick. Hate to come back and find her missing or worse yet eating something that she shouldn't (luckly I dont have a cat!!)

Haha, yeah, my accounting book is pretty big too (taking classes @ H&R Block to be a tax professional in January, then maybe if I like it going to be a CPA)

    Hope everything went well.
