Re: Candy cane/Creamsicle ID
I compared pictures of amels online with Sniff and I think you are right: Sniff seems to be an amel.
The lady that breeds them is very clean and great to deal with, but I don't think she's able to tell the different morphs apart. She had several corn babies that she showed me and called them lavenders. Well, I have a lavender and I know about the ruby-red eyes and her's, although very pretty, had the typical amber ring around the iris.
Thank you very much Joe!

No problem .If she is like me "color blind" it can be hard telling some apart from others .If you dont mind how much does she charge for her corns?

In pictures they do not show thier full color brightness, tis the reason i said it looked more like a Amel then a creamsickle .Now if you breed your corn to a snow half the babies will be snows. You are correct about it not showing any sign of being a het for snow .

Re: Candy cane/Creamsicle ID
Argentra, Joe is correct as to the colors not showing up well in pictures. After he suggested that Sniff might be an amel I googled pictures of them and came across several that look just like him on the picture (!).

Re: Candy cane/Creamsicle ID
Both of those snakes are amels.
A candycane is just a line bred amel. As is a sunglow for example. They are all homozygous amel. Candycanes are called that because you want them to have as white as possible backgrounds; minimal orange. It's hard to tell from the pic, but I'm not so sure how well of a candy cane yours will turn out (I'm not saying that to be offensive or anything!). The thing with candycanes is that they're called that based solely on their looks; nothing to do with parents or anything. "Normal" amel parents can throw candy cane offspring; and candycane parents can throw "normal" amels. So with candycanes you have to base it on how white the base color is. Far too often I've seen people selling regular amels as candycanes mostly because the parents were candycanes; that doesn't automatically mean all their offspring will be candycanes...
Now creamsicles on the other hand is used simply to indicate that there is emoryi blood in them and that they are hybrids. You can have candy cane creamsicles, and so forth. It's simply to identify snakes that are not pure corn. Whether or not its 50/50 or 90/10 corn/emoryi, it is still proper to identify them as creamsicles if you know they have emoryi blood in them.
