Odd Behaviour from Kyna
Well this one has me stumped. I've just never seen one of our females do this sort of thing before so I figured I'd just ask.
Tonight was feeding night. One of our mature females, Kyna, who has never bred though we did try her last year, but no lockups occurred, has seemed to have built some sort of nest. Dead center of her large tub...not on the cool nor warm side. She normally uses her hides, she has aspen bedding. What she's done is build up her bedding all in the middle then sort of created a crater where she's currently laying in a perfect circle (not a tight coil). She didn't even look at her dinner tonight which is really odd for her. She's not been put with a male yet this year as we were going to start pairing up in a couple of weeks.
Is this some sort of breeding behaviour that some females do? Is Kyna trying to tell me to get her a man? LOL I wish I could post pics but we are still without a camera. I didn't get her out to palpitate her since I wanted to post this first and get some idea of what Kyna's up to.

It will be interesting to see what more experienced folks have to say. My mature females are all acting "odd" - and I'm sure it's probably them getting ready for breeding.

Yep I had refusals tonight from females that always eat. Sit down Robin because this one will make you faint...

Well we may have to push up our planned first pairings date LOL. Hopefully some of the breeders here can give me some idea of what's up with oddball Kyna.

It seems to be in the air as my Aine refused for the first time ever. This girl is out of the tub catching them in the air usually. I would love to hear what other breeders think.

Ooooh...well. That (everybody's girls suddenly not feeding) makes me feel a lot better! My adult girl, Matika, has always fed wonderfully (she tracks socked feet if the socks are white!) and this last month had stopped eating for the first time in the 4 years of her life. Was yours laying on her side with her belly exposed..?
But the nest thing--that's funky!! I look forward to seeing what experienced breeders have to say.
