Probably going into shed?
Tonight is feeding night, tried feeding my RTB his mouse, and i uncovered him from his substrate a little to show him the mouse. Instantly he was coiled up and had his mouth open and just kept hissing none stop, rather loud too, i was suprised. But i tried giving him the mouse and the first time he struck at it, he tagged it, but it was as almost as he just nicked it and missed it, picked it up again, did the same thing and he just tagged it. After that i didn't want to stress him out anymore so i took the mouse out and let him be, he continued to hiss a little while longer after i put the top back on and then he kind of wandered to near the water bowl, then settled himself back down in his hiding spot.
His eyes aren't blue, but i'm just going to assume that he's about to go into shed? Does that sound about right? Are their eyes blurry even when they aren't blue?
Just want to make sure i'm making the right assumption. Thanks.

Not True. If his eyes are cloudy then yeah he is probgoing into shed but he should still eat. Since RTB's are nocturnal try feeding him at night in low light. It will make him feel more comfortable. Or maybe you just shook him up. If you were burried under your sheets and some huge thingcame and flipped them up you would be a little startled to. Give it a few days and try feeding him again. Don't listen to plummer just because he may be going into shed does not mean he won't eat. My RTB will still eat even if his eyes are straight blue. RTB's usually don't go off feed while in shed.

I agree with the statement that all boas are different. All snakes are different, with different attitudes, temperaments, and habits.
I have a female boa who will eat whenever, however, whatever. But, she's also a big adult female. I have a little baby hypo that won't do anything but hiss when he's in blue---because he's small and can't see well, I think anything that moves around him is considered a possible threat. A boa that little, in the wilderness, would be considered easy pickings for a large bird of prey... and anything that would try to eat him would be coming from above, thus his wariness.
That said, he will eat if I leave the mouse in his hide and walk away.
My advice: I would leave him alone for a day or two, see if he sheds out. If he still hasn't, but you want to try feeding again, just leave the prey item in his hide. If he doesn't eat it overnight, take it as a lesson learned---your dude doesn't eat while in shed.
And devil-dog... I believe in listening to any and all advice. No one person is totally right or totally wrong. Just because plummer's boas act differently and he has had different reactions doesn't mean we should just not listen to him.... You both made some excellent points!!!

yea we did... just how some snakes are diff thats all
but i dont recomend leaving the mouse in there all night cuz the mouse can nipat the snakes tail or body and mess it up... so leave it in ther for about 30 min and if its in there still take it ou andtyr 2-3 days later...

True Statement, mine still eats when his eyes are blue, his eyes aren't blue...i've uncovered him plenty of times to feed him and he's usually cool about it. Maybe i just caught him at the wrong time, or maybe his eyes aren't blue yet, but he's in the starting stage of it. I don't know, i'm going to try feeding him again on his next scheduled feeding time.
