Two thoughts - if you do not know it is Dimidichromis Compressiceps.
The first is an Orange Blotched Peacock Cichlid, or some other kind of Peacock Cichlid. See below and in links. The younger they are, the less colorful. I think the shape shows that it is more likely a Peacock than a Malawi Eye Eater.
The second is that sometimes you do not know - depending where you go the fish. These fish can breed like rabbits and you can end up with hybrids.
Again, it has been a while as health pushed me out of the fish game, but I hope this is at least somewhat helpful.

The babies cane from a female Malawi eye biter so presumably she had a jiggy moment or two with a male Peacock
They came out of a massive display tank in a tropical fish store
