Re: Male Barranquilla Boa. 12yrs Old.
I'd love to compliment you on the beautiful heathy animal, but I just can't get past the deck railing.

LOL!
It faces west and takes all the weather but its the easiest photo prop option.
2 years ago It was so nice.

It drives me crazy, and I will find a good stain option after all the other crap wears off. Unfortunately when the house was repainted after storm damages, they painted the rails instead of using an oil based stain.

I can't explain it better than Gus Rentfro or Vin Russo however the Barranquilla locale, according to both of those boa experts is what a "natural cross" between a BCC and a BCI looks like. They have traits of both.
The scale counts and some other characteristics make them unique.
The boa is Colombian but anything from common.
A lot of BCI (BI) are dull and washed out. The Barranquillas seem to hold their color pretty well. This guy did used to have a much brighter tail, but even the BCC darken a bit with age.
The boas tend to be hardy and beautiful. They are easy to start and seem to avoid a lot of the early husbandry and regurgitation issues some of the BCC boas go through.
THE COMPLETE BOA CONSTRICTOR and THE MORE COMPLETE BOA CONSTRICTOR (Vincent Russo) are two excellent references if you want to research more.
I highly recommend both of those books.

Thanks Richard,
and speaking of fantastic looking boas, you are one of the leaders in that department.
Boas and Carpets are my favorites. Unfortunately I only have 1 boa.
I am able to post pictures again without much effort so I may be around here a bit more.
It might be time for a collection update for a number of us here that have been M I A for a bit.
You had a pretty nice photo session not too long ago!
