We had a small house fire when I was a kid due to a cat knocking a heat lamp onto the floor so heating elements make me really nervous. Bogertophis won't like this story but I was originally wanting a rosy boa for my first snake, but I couldn't get over my fear of lamps that get that hot. The ball pythons low temps and UTH was part of the reason I went with them, and even then I used to flinch whenever the on/off thermostat would click to turn on - pets can broaden our horizons in a lot of ways I guess lol.
