    Hard to say, but yeah 97F is quite hot. The heat may have induced a shed before it was really time. What are you using as a heat element? If it's under tank heating, it's probably a shed but you should still watch carefully for dehydration because of that high heat. If it's overhead, it's possible he got burned. Is his underside the same tint of pink?
