Quick question...

I fed Mia last night and she ate with gusto! She was so hungry she didn't even let me get the rat all the way in her enclosure before she struck...went in about 2 hours later just to check on her (her owner, my son, is gone for 2 weeks so she is in my care) and she was out cruising around and looking up like she was still hungry. Very unusual for her as she usually will eat and then disappear in her hide.

Can she be hungry again? If she is, is it ok to feed her a second one just a few hours later? My son didn't say anything about her ever being hungry again after a meal.

I don't remember her weight, but i do know that she is eating small rats.

I forgot to ask how frequently.

For reference, my female BP, Shayna, is 8 years old, 2KG, and eats a small rat every two weeks. She is healthy and happy.

I would not be feeding anything larger than a small rat unless feeding less often (not recommended) or she gets really big.

Do not feed a snake another food item if more than half an hour has passed since they ate the first one as this can mess with their digestion. If Mia is a healthy adult BP, it won't do her any harm to wait until the next feeding day. Snakes often continue to act hungry after eating because they go into a sort of "feeding mode" mindset that can last up to 48 hrs, plus the lingering smell of rodent in their enclosures seems to encourage this.

Thank you all for your help. She was hiding the next morning but her nose was sticking out of her hide. However she hasn't come back out.

Again I don't know her weight but she will be 3 yrs old in a few months and my son has had her since itty bitty.
She eats a small defrosted rat about every 10 to 14 days.

That sounds like a good feeding schedule and a proper food item to me.

this is a difficult question, it would be best to check up with a vet (or your son) to check the snakes weight, depending on how much they weigh and the size of the snake, you might have to start doubling the feeding, make sure you feed the snake once every week! or however your son does it! hope you problem gets fixed!
