Re: Meet Apophis
Proper Quarantine in an Ideal Situation (for all reptiles except for #5 RE feeding - Lizards fed more often than snakes should be given 3 weeks to adjust to their new surroundings before being handled, etc):
1. Paper substrate (can see mites, easier to keep clean and sanitary, etc.)
2. Proper temps and humidity are a must
3. Separate rooms than all other reptiles
4. Separate tongs, bowls, etc. If a quarantined animal doesn't eat, that prey item (if F/T) is thrown away and not offered to another animal
5. Quarantined animal is fed, handled, cleaned, etc. last. On handling, there should be none aside from removing to clean tank and put back, until 3 meals in a row are digested.
6. Clothes changed and shower and/or thorough hand and arm cleaning after touching quarantined animal.
7. DO this for 3 months. IF any animals shows signs of distress/illness, etc. OR a new animal comes into the same room/area, Quarantine starts at day 1 again.
Since you have taken on many new animals, you'll have to do your best to follow these rules as I am guessing you don't have 12 rooms in your house (I don't).
1, 2, 4, and 6, should be followed to a T.
Do not use feeding utensils or offer refused food, etc. between animals.
Wash hands, and clothes if possible, thoroughly.
In your case, any animal that seems like it might not be 100% healthy should be moved to a separate space immediately, probably vet checked, and quarantine starts over for everyone else.
If I missed anything, BP.net peeps, please feel free to add.
Good luck and keep us posted. Hopefully all goes well.
