Yes, I wasn't really being serious. It was more tongue in cheek. When I used to write programs for CMM's, one of the engineers was from the England and when we were about to break for the holiday, I said I hope you have a Happy 4th. He said, "Bill, we don't celebrate that one. We lost."
It really struck me as funny because I hadn't considered there were two sides to that story. I just happened to be on the happier side.
And that's how I took you... But you're right, we do tend to see only one side.
