    It's a pre-1982 penny. I saw it on Snake Discovery ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opojR4Qu2P4&t=181s ). Supposedly the copper cuts down on slime/algae growth. Admittedly, it's probably overkill on a water dish that small that I'm changing every 2 days anyway. She has another water dish I don't have a penny in so it's a test of sorts to see which she drinks from more.
