    First escape. (Nightmare).

He didn’t go into his hide last night, he put himself into the ceramic log that’s in the middle of the viv.
I’ve been putting him back into his hide but he just keeps coming back out.

He knows where he wants to be...he must be thinking you're a real pain. Does he have 2 hides, on both warm & cool side (of enclosure)? If not, this is telling you that his hide is not the temperature he needs right now (or is too large, perhaps)...fix that (install additional hide), but let him choose.

Ye there’s two hides, I took the log out hoping he’d find his way back into one of them.
He’s just roaming about. Am I best just putting the log back in and if he stays in it hope that he goes into one of the hides tonight?

I'd put the log back in & let him choose. He just had a taste of freedom & he's looking for the "door" again (thinks the log is it), lol...he'll settle down when he's ready.

I’ve put one of those plastic domes in & he’s gone inside well half in half out. I’ll put everything back the way it was tonight.

About 20 minutes after I last posted on here yesterday he went in his hide.
Today he’s decided to sleep outside his hide.

His hide looks too small imo. Those are made for small colubrids and geckos. I’d go with an xlarge cave. Both exoterra and zoomed make them. You can also make hides out of cork flats/tubes and/or plants.

That is a large exo Terra snake cave. He does fit in it.
