Signs of impending shed in the order I notice them:
- Lethargy and inactivity, BP no longer seen sticking head out of hide or cruising at night, immobile and unresponsive when hide is lifted, inactive if taken out for handling (other BPs might become strikey and irritable if disturbed)
- BP's scales start sticking up slightly in areas where the BP's body bends
- BP's colours become duller
- BP's eyes turn cloudy and "blue" (or in my albino's case, a greyish purple)
- Slight wrinkles around the neck appear
What I do when I notice my BP going into shed, usually confirmed when I see his colours turning dull:
- Stop handling
- Increase humidity to 70-85% by misting
- Add a ball of damp sphagnum moss to warm and cool hides
- I don't feed when the eyes are cloudy
- Feed the day after BP sheds and then resume usual feeding interval
