    Incubator upgrade!

Well look what I just found on a scrappers truck on my way into work this morning. Not that I need it, so far I only have one clutch this year lol. But I'm super excited to make this bad boy my new incubator, at least I'll know I have the room if I need it. Plus I've been wanting to up the size egg tub I use but I couldn't fit anything bigger in the one I have now but this one will have no issues fitting a nice big tub for 10+ egg clutches.

It's in perfect shape too so I'm just really excited i got lucky enough to see it.

When you set it up, did you gut everything you didn't need or just left it as is and add the heat source? It's pretty heavy as is so I was thinking about removing all the junk for the refrigeration. The one I use now was already setup when I bought it so I'm not sure what all is involved in making it incubator ready other than obviously adding a heat source and thermostat.

I left everything intact. I then drilled holes to run my wiring for the heat tape, probes etc. I may eventually remove the compressor etc but for now it will stay put.

Ok cool, at least I know I can do a quick and easy install to get it up and running. Thanks!

very nice score and a perfect way to recycle!

Edit: i made my own wine cooler incubator and removed the compressor to lighten the weight. when moving it around on the floor, i realized that w/ the compressor removed, the incubator was not balanced or top heavy or something and easy to tip over. maybe it's something to consider w/ taller rigs.

That's a great point I had not even considered. I think I may just leave it in there because I sure don't want it to be top heavy or even moving when I pull on the door because it does seal pretty tight compared to the smaller one I have now. Thank you for the input.
