Now that's just so adorable, Crowley had some "chill mode" moments but he also likes to explore and try to get himself anywhere he shouldn't be. He's just a snake being a snake though. Just wait till your little Dumpling tries things like Crowley did, here are some examples of the silly things Crowley has done on this thread I made https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...eptile-stories Going in chairs and couches are his specialty so if your gonna have Dumpling out on on a chair or couch I suggest putting a blanket over it first, I learned my lesson the hard way. Even with a blanket they will try to go around it so beware of that.
Dumpling looks so spoiled already, letting him out when he asks. I do the same for Crowley and have done so for so long that I feel bad when I'm late to take him out. He really is a royal python and gets treated like royalty, I'm sure Dumpling will be just as spoiled.

Crowley is such a riot!! A little explorer on your hands. We've had a "couch moment" already too, now I just bring him to the futon so there's no worries about those amazing cracks in the cushions they love so much.
He's already got his own agenda! I always hear not to handle your snake everyday but he really does seem to be interested in being out and about. Gotta love our mischief makers :p

Most people say not to take them out daily but I always take Crowley out everyday because he loves to be out. The only time I don't take him out is for 48 hours after eating and when he's shedding or when he decides for himself that he wants to stay in. He lets me know when he wants out by climbing the glass of his tank. If Dumpling is eating fine then taking him out daily doesn't hurt at all especially if he's asking to come out, it will just make for a tamer snake as he grows up.
Also I still recommend a blanket as snakes will pee anywhere they please and a blanket is much easier to clean than a couch or futon.

Eek didn't think about the bladder situations, blanket it is!
He has had trouble eating, though I am in the middle of trying to switch him to f/t so that's a whole mother struggle. I leave him alone as much as I can, especially after a meal (when he's taken one) but it's hard to resist opening the lid when I can tell he wants to be out. I'm going to try and feed him again tomorrow after waiting 5 days since I last tried, so I don't think I'll open the lid for him tonight.
It'll be insentive, "maybe if I eat mom will let me out again "
Cross your fingers!

Good luck feeding the little guy, Crowley was already on F/T when I got him so I was lucky with that one. Hope your little Dumpling eats.

Just a note, his "wooden" hide is actually plastic, and I drape a dark cloth over this side of the enclosure, so he has privacy
Aww, he is so super cute in this picture, I never gave Crowley a fan before and he's rarely been outside so I don't know how he'd react to wind. Now that I have a home and no longer in an apartment full of snake hating people I might take him outside this summer. Your little Dumpling is just so adorable.

I would love to be able to take Dumpling outside, but I'm in an apartment too, in the middle of a loud city but I can't wait for Crowley to get to feel a breeze. Thanks for all the love!

If this is him after being with me for 2 months then I can't imagine how wonderful he'll continue to grow to be
I'd love to see photos of yours!! Bananas are high on my list for sure
