    FYI- ball pythons have fairly big heads & relatively wide bodies, so hopper mice (small, eyes open, just weaned) are the appropriate size prey even for hatchling BPs.
    Unless you can get them to take comparably-sized rat fuzzies (eyes closed). The only hitch with hopper mice is that with eyes open, they may bite back...and many
    snakes won't start off feeding on f/t, in which case fuzzies (eyes closed, either rats or mice) are the safer choice. Hopper mice (live) can be also quite active, & many
    BPs may hesitate to take them, especially for a first feeding, but you never know. Their instincts are to eat, but in the wild they presumably don't have humans hanging
    about watching & making them nervous either.
    Thankfully it doesn't look like he's malnurished. I'm going to try to feed him two f/t mouse fuzzies tonight and see how it goes
