Female VS Male care
So is there anything that needs to be done differently for a female vs male? Like for females you need to do XXXXXX if your not breeding them or males get grumpy around breeding time if not breeding? Trying to get all info before buying one. Thanks. I have seen that females can get larger than males.

The only differences are sizes which means it will also affect are you feed them as adults everything else is the same and you keep them the same way year round.

Re: Female VS Male care
Honestly I prefer males because you don't have to deal with the possible egg-laying situation

That would only be an issue if they breed correct? I was leaning towards a female since they can get bigger. My wife won't let me get a Boa.

Re: Female VS Male care
Unfortunately female reptiles can produce non-viable eggs without ever mating. This is just a personal choice I made because I have had reptiles in the past (non snakes) that have become egg bound and could not lay the eggs and that gets to be a sticky situation sometimes. You might want to discuss how often this happens with other snake owners

Ok. What would be involved with dealing with that? How likely is it? Thats the type of info I am looking for. Thank you.

When I comes to Ball Pythons it is very rare to have a female laying without being paired to a male, it has happen but it is not something as common as other species , I would not worry about that.

Awesome. Thanks. If they happen to is it fairly easy to deal with? Wait till she is done and get rid of them? or a bit more to do?

Re: Female VS Male care
I've never gotten eggs from a ball python I did not breed.
I've never had an egg-bound female, but, I don't mate when they are young and/or poor body condition.
I prefer females to males because I find them more reliable to eat (no winter fasting) and mine seem slower/calmer (in general).
