    Not to derail the derailed thread, but along the lines of what can go wrong that is preventable:

    Travel

    Your snake should be double-enclosed when in transit. Snake in a bag, bag in a box or tub with locking lid. Snakes are escape artists and you don't want it to end up under a seat where it can get injured on exposed metal or wires, or disappearing into your car's dashboard. I cringe every time I see a picture of someone holding a snake while driving.
