All things considered, this is a very minor bite, cosidering it was delivered by a Retic. Even for that size Retic.
I've seen some really gory pictures and read about what happened. Not sure why, but it seems that Retic bites can end up quite serious. They seem to "slice" like razors if they choose to do so. Deep wounds, sliced through tendons and arteries even. One story showed the aftermath of a bite and it looked like a murder scene. Artery was cut by a 14 foot Retic that had never, ever shown any aggression previously. It was a quick bite and release, too. Only, the Retic twisted his head before he let go, so sliced deeply. Owner was trying to move the snake for cleaning, no food response. I have also seem some gory bites (again, they sliced) delivered by relatively small Retics, around 10 foot or so?
They are gorgeous and majestic snakes. Very intelligent and aware. Lots of fun. But between the pushing issues and the potential for some serious damage should a bite occur, I will admire them from afar
ok, I'm going to post one link, but be aware, pretty graphic.
