The probe should sit in the middle of the heat pad. If you don't like the bubble (I couldn't handle the different temps. Drove me batty) I use styrofoam sheets. So my set up goes

    snake
    substrate
    Glass
    uth
    probe
    styrofoam.

    Ill find ttaylorrs drawing.

*~* Nothing sticky (tape, stick on gauges, Velcro) goes into your enclosure! Again...NOTHING sticky goes into your enclosure....EVER! *~*

    Need some advice

this is how to set up styrofoam. I couldn't have the bubble. It was making me so angry. I cannot have varying temps.

Your tape is covering part of your probe. You want the tape over the cord not any part of the probe.

Starting from inside the tank to outside

    snake
    substrate
    glass
    utn
    probe
    styrofoam
    table

i am redoing Odyn's tank today so I will do a tutorial. He is moving into a 40 breeder.
