Hola, and Welcome to the Forum!!

As Sallysmom said, with experience, comes confidence andsoon after you let your animal settle in... She is an adult, but she is in a newsituation... So again; wait the on the 3<+ consecutive meals before handling her again; if she is in shed, good, it isbest to leave her alone; Bump up the humidity to 80-90% (100%) … not wet but moist air; watch temps but if regulated by a reliable thermostat, you should be ok (lower your stress), but i would invest in a thermal gun as well for surface temps chks; for abient i would go cermaic bulb, if you want your pretty red light, go for it, but BPs dont need the light to be happy; substarte in a glass = paper towel, i would go coco-nut husk or aspen as some ppl use. These are veryhardy animals when they are adults, and if husbandry is all done the right way,you should be able to relax. Once you get that 3rd meal in her … if she has agood temperament already as you said, you will have to practice restraint onthe handling lol ... trust I know you LOVE HER! I love my spell and want tohold her every day!!.. but I can’t .. and that’s why I bought my other snakesto pass time between handling sessions.. lol .. so maybe another snake may helpease your stress…
All I will say iskeep up the good work, take notes of everything your animal does, from sheds, refused meals, poops, etc. all of which I am sure you are aware of.. there isalso an app for that … but for a glass terrarium, IDK if you have done thisalready, it will be hard to keep humidity in so covered a portion of the top ofyour tank’s screen lid (if it is screen).
I used to spray but then invested in a fogger… I gottired of filing it up and switched to a rack, where the humidity is almost asstable as can be and as your collection grows- if you that is your plan – yourgoing to get another snake eventually … It will happen and you will be happyyou have it already set up and running. but once the sickness sets in and youfind yourself looking for your 2nd snake, you will be prepared
would love t see some pics of you animal

Welcome and congrats. You look like you’re off to a great start.

I try not to handle during shed as mine gets nippy and stressed during this time. She rather just stay in hide until she’d is over.

Like others have said keep humidity bumped around 80 during shed.

    Cheers.

This is a great setup. Thank you for posting! I'm getting the 40 gallon tank for her in about an hour, and I'll set it up similar (heat pad on right side, heat lamp in the middle).

Thank you for your nice post!

I keep a towel on top of the screen and spray it down 2x per day to keep the humidity up. I think she is on day 4 of her shed cycle - eyes are not blue/foggy anymore but I can feel her scales lifting in some parts. She definitely wants to just chill and be left alone right now, I can tell.

I am going to get a 40 gallon tank this afternoon and can't wait to have a bigger home setup for her!

Let me see if I can post some pictures of her...give me a minute...

With any new snake, it's a good idea to start off using white paper towels anyway...because mites show up easily on them & for the sake of your snake, you want
to be sure there aren't any...THEN (after a couple weeks) by all means switch to the substrate of your choice for appearance & humidity sake. You can't be too
careful, mites reproduce exponentially & can seriously harm (even kill) a snake, & they can be easily picked up in a pet store or expo from other snakes.

Welcome to the forum... and congrats on being a new snake-mom.

    I did it!

I got her new home setup and she is all moved in! I found the first signs of shedding in her old home (her face has come off) I felt guilty about picking her up and moving her but she was very chill and it happened very quickly, so I don't think it was too traumatizing for her. I have her new vivarium completely covered so she is free to make herself at home without feeling insecure.

I feel so relieved. I have been feeling incredible amounts of guilt this last week with keeping her in the smaller vivarium and the 24 hour light on her at all times. Now she has a much bigger home that will be easier for me to regulate.

I still need to tweak it and plan on getting the digital humidity guage and another thermostat for the lamps when I get paid on the 15th. I've spent $500 in the last week on Florence so I'll be scraping together money just to feed myself these next two weeks, but at least the snake is in a more suitable house!!!

Her last meal was on the 14th so as soon as she is finished this shed cycle, I have a rat in my freezer that is calling her name.

Now both Florence and I can relax.
