your Smeagol or any others....you get a real sense this way of their natural behavior were they in the wild. I think Smeagol is the "poster-boy" for happy
geckos everywhere, & some of those photos would make terrific greeting cards IMO.
Aw, thank you! That makes me happy to hear it.
I was completely new to Gecko ownership, a true newbie. Thanks to this forum and help from more experienced keepers like Deborah and mleedee I managed to keep him alive
He will occasionally still sleep sticking to the glass, but ever since I put a thicker sphagnum layer down, he prefers to create a nice little burrow in there. The first time he did that, he put me in panic mode. I couldn't find him !!!! Finally I saw a bit of his tail between the moss, whew !
When I first got him the stinker only wanted bugs !!! So I made sure to make the bugs as healthy (gut loaded, dusted) as possible and kept offering the gecko diet, too. I was worried he would end up missing something. But...once he reached a good size he suddenly started to eat a lot of the gecko diet and far less bugs. So I worried for nothing. Esp. since its been established that the young ones in the wild eat a lot more bugs then the adults.
I also used to worry about sounds and commotion, since he is right on my desk, in the thick of it. He never seemed to mind any of it, perhaps because he doesn't know any different. I could swear he has preferences. He likes to hear his name in a high pitched voice. I think he thinks its some kind of "food call", LMAO !!!
He also likes to come and sit on his tree up front when I play music. Lately I've played some ABBA and boy, he seems to really go for that Brings out his inner "dancing queen" perhaps??
He really is quite the character and I love having him to look at while on the computer !
edited to say, the last couple of pics were taken while the two of us were listening to ABBA songs, LOL !!! I could swear I saw his little head bop a bit (not really, but almost, haha)
