What is this parasite?

I don't know but what substrate are you using? I'm thinking it may have come in the substrate (if you're using mulch or something like that?) & isn't a parasite
from the snake, like nothing I've seen anyway. Is that still moving (ie. alive?), 'cause it looks like part is missing?

I use coconut coir. I too thought it looked more like a dirt bug than a gut bug. I haven’t seen any bugs flying or crawling around the soil, but it’s been summer so who knows.

It doesn’t look alive, not moving at all. I don’t think it was severed: the black end seems to be the lead and it’s got a blunt back end. I found it in the water dish.
