Guess it's worth a try ... at worst it should loosen the skin/ scales then you can get a very damp , rough textured towel , and let it slither around inside the towel ( on your lap or in the sink ) ... whilst it's moving around just apply very gentle pressure with your hands . It may sound daunting but it's very easy to do and the snake won't care at all if the towel is warmish . Any loose skin / shed / scales will come off onto the towel.
I've used the damp towel technique successfully a few times but after the shake has had a short soak ..... the pillowcase may work though.
