Try putting him/her into a damp pillow case inside the Viv, this was Ur not actually scaring them trying to rubbing them especially if it's on its head. And definitely increase the humidity especially when you know it's shedding time. Temp is fine but again humidity needs to be higher.

You can use a rub the bath her/him in. Only needs to be roughly 2inches deep depending on how big the snake is. You can also use special wood chip in so much of the Viv to help hold humidity, but I warn you it can create to much and a pain to bring down.
